Our hugely popular client is building a team to innovate in optimizing utilization of compute capacity, forecasting scaling needs, and building tools that enable massive scale in the fleet management process. We re looking for experienced, high-calibre Software Developers to invent and execute their ideas in a fast-paced, challenging and very fun environment. As a Software Development Engineer for the web services infrastructure team you will provide diagnostics and dashboards that enable other SDEs and fleet owners to manage and optimize their hardware requests, fleet composition and scale for their services. Work with principal engineers to innovate ways to measure utilization of large and small fleets and build tools that analyze and provide insight into this rich data. You will identify ways to analyze production fleets and traffic in order to identify their scaling limitations, as well as make optimization recommendations. These are just a few areas the organization is tackling we need your talent to get to the next level.

TASKS TO INCLUDE:

- Building web services in Java and a Back End infrastructure on web services currently including Elastic Map Reduce, DynamoDB, RDS, EC2 and S3
- Building engaging websites using Ruby on Rails and the latest graphing and visualization technologies (D3, Flot)
- Building tools that analyze large amounts of data (ie fleet utilization data, web services usage and Billing data), crunch numbers and display beautiful visualizations that provide users with insight into this rich data
- Giving the business insight into fleet inventory, usage, financial costs, so they can make wise decisions and save the company millions of dollars going after huge cost savings
- Some hard problems include, how to show people their web services usage across all their applications and how much it's costing them vs their plan, how to identify the scaling points of an application, how to optimize the hardware that a service uses based on its scaling points, how to help the fleet run optimally, thus saving infrastructure costs

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Strong design and coding skills in Ruby on Rails and Java on Unix Platforms
- Web development expertise (Proficiency in Ruby, JavaScript)
- Strong User Interface design skills
- Experience building high-performance, highly-available and scalable systems
- Must be highly innovative, flexible and self-directed
- Must be able to analyze problems and solve them creatively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Desire to analyze data while developing solutions to problems
- 3+ years of software development experience
- Bachelors degree in computer science or a related field

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Familiarity with SQL and relational databases
- Experience in data analysis using statistical methods
