SOFTWARE DESIGN ENGINEER AUSTIN, TX 12 MONTH CONTRACT

MUST HAVE SKILLS:
Candidates must have BSCS or related degree required along with 4+ years of Java experience. Candidates must also have 2+ years of Web App development experience and Database experience. Candidates must have expertise in setting and debugging complex environments and possess excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills.

NICE TO HAVE:
Nice if candidates are familiar with Eclipse and comfortable with HTML/CSS/JavaScript and JSP/Servlets, Spring/Struts. Its a plus if candidates are familiar with the following languages: C#/.Net, Shell Scripting, Hadoop related technologies. Nice to have candidates who are experienced with developing, supporting and maintaining web based applications. DB2 UDB experience is also a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Handle and resolve customer escalations, by troubleshooting customer issues, finding root causes and providing solutions
- Develop fixes on current products, providing technical solutions to customer-reported problems
- Develop of internal and external supportability tools
- Interface closely with: Technical Support, development teams, QA teams and customers with primary intent of making the products more supportable and of higher quality
- Build the knowledge base, train future hires and help transfer knowledge to the support organization

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Expertise in setting and debugging complex environments
- Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills
- Passion for improving code quality, troubleshooting and finding root causes
- Fast learner, must be able to handle multiple tasks at a time, and with little direct supervision
- Must be a team player and enjoy working on all aspects of product development including coding, debugging, testing and documentation
- Good analytic, design, coding/testing and documentation skills
- Strong interpersonal skills along with effective communication (both written and verbal) skills
- BSCS or related degree required.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

- Required: Java Experience (4+ years)
- Experienced with JDK libraries
- Strong with Object Oriented Design
- Required: familiarity with Eclipse
- Required: Web App development, support and maintenance experience (2+ years)
- Comfortable with HTML/CSS/JavaScript and JSP/Servlets, Spring/Struts
- Preferred: Experience with a production Internet facing web app
- Required: Database experience (2+ years)
- DB2 UDB experience a plus
- OS (a plus): Windows, Linux, specifically RHEL
- Languages (a plus): C#/.Net, Shell Scripting, Hadoop Related technologies
