Software Database Engineer

Our client is the world's leading software company seeking a Developer with strong reporting and tool development experience/skills who is able to show as much passion towards supporting existing tools as new development projects. This is an opportunity with a small team that supports several tools as well as OLAP and Data warehousing BI. The majority of the responsibilities/time for this position will be on existing tool support and modification. The team that supports these efforts is small with each of the projects/tools typically supported by a PM and one or two Devs.

This team has a dozen production SSAS cubes that need maintenance and enhancements. In addition, the Quota Setting Tools, which are used by business partners (approx. 100+ users) for several weeks each year, needs support. These tools must be modified to support the changing business needs as well as address any outstanding functionality issues from the prior year. The tools were built using EXCEL with VSTO for the UI and a SQL DB as the Back End. This role will be responsible for the database (T-SQL, stored procedures) and reporting (SSRS, SSAS cube, MDX) components of the tool. In addition to modifying the tool (SQL and reporting changes), you will be responsible for assisting with support during the limited time the tool is being used.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES

- Partners with program manager to identify requirements, identify and evaluate alternatives, and implement solutions.
- Actively participates as a team member on project team.
- Modifies existing DB schemas, stored procedures, etc. as required to support business needs.
- Designs and develops required reporting using SSRS and if required building cubes for reporting.
- Contributes to development methodologies and best practices.
- Participates in cross group collaborative work with other Finance groups.
- Supports testing efforts (integration testing and UAT)
- Works with PM to provide end user support during period when tool is being used.
- Authors required technical and support documentation.

NEW REPORTING EFFORTS (secondary tasks)

- Partners with program manager to identify requirements, identify and evaluate alternatives, and implement solutions.
- Actively participates as a team member on project team.
- Architects, designs, and develops (based off of BRD) multi-dimensional schemas and SSRS/SSAS reporting systems for internal partners.
- Contributes to development methodologies and best practices.
- Participates in cross group collaborative work with other Finance groups.
- Actively participates in technical investigations and prototyping.
- Makes recommendations to improve business workflow efficiency and information access as well as provide education on the benefits and limitations of technology solutions.
- Ensures data accuracy and reliability.
- Authors required technical and support documentation

This contract position is expected to be 12 months in duration.
