Software Assurance Engineer

Software Assurance Engineer required for a leading Defence and Aerospace company based in Wiltshire to provide expertise and knowledge in leading assessment of third party software against DO-178B compliance standards to provide safety recommendations to MoD clients.

Due to the end client and nature of work the successful candidate will be required to undergo security clearance so current SC Clearance is highly desirable.

Assessment of evidence to identify whether software is adequately safe for its intended use; a key part of this will be assessing the compliance to DO-178B. This may involve attendance at customer sites to conduct review of evidence and/or attendance at SOI reviews to witness the reviews and ensure issues are identified and addressed. Reporting on the results of the assessment.

The successful candidates must have experience of conducting independent assessment of third party evidence of compliance with DO-178/254 processes in order to underpin our advice to MOD relating to the overall safety of air platforms. Ideally with an awareness of DS 00-56/55 as well. Independent software assurance assessment, software process assessment and software product assessment. It is anticipated that you will also have experience of safety critical software and safety assessment. You will know how to run the assessments, what to look out for (pitfalls) and how to ask the right questions.
