SHE Advisor/Manager/Consultant

A busy Glasgow based organisation is looking for a SHE Manager for a 6 month contract as soon as possible. The role is based around a new renewable energy development which is at its early stages. The role requires the right candidate to be in an advisory role to support, advise and guide on all SHE management. The role is very much involved in the strategic direction of the SHE plan incorporating the business and JV partners & subcontractors. Ideally you would be looking for a role that is primarily setting up the health and safety landscape of a million pound project as well as ensuring the partners are adhering to the organisations SHE policies.

Key accountabilities:

Behavioural Safety:
Assist in the development of a culture of safety within the project by monitoring and assessing the
development of EPC contractors existing behavioural systems, ensuring the H&S
principles are aligned.

Coaching:
Coaching of the project management teams to facilitate continuous improvements in SHE
performance by ensuring they have the skills, knowledge and awareness necessary to proactively
support SHE management activities during project delivery.

Assurance
Assuring senior management that the contractors are effectively implementing a robust safety
management system by risk based auditing of both onshore and offshore refinement phase activities
and the verification of closure of audit findings.

Construction Design
-Possess a detailed working knowledge of applicable statutory and legal obligations;
-Knowledge and understanding of project management systems and governance arrangements for a

large capital projects;
-Knowledge of both the offshore and onshore working environments;
-Demonstrable advisory/management experience of project SHE management in major projects;
-Experience of proactively supporting project SHE management teams and functions
-Knowledge of EPC contracting strategies;
-Highly numerate with the ability to distil complex data and information;
-Advanced IT skills: MS Office

Essential Functional/Technical Skills:

-Diploma or Certificate in safety and health management;
-Minimum of 5 years experience in an advisory/management role on large construction projects. Direct

experience of large offshore construction projects is essential;
-Experience in the execution of offshore renewable energy projects and/or projects within the offshore

oil and gas industry;
-Experience in OSHAS 18001
-Experience of implementing and monitor behavioural safety programmes;
-Experience in construction site inspections and interacting with project and construction managers.
