Service Engineer

Service Engineer needed to install, troubleshoot, or repair heavy lathes (25" swing and up). This position requires someone with mechanical expertise, CNC experienced is desired, and the ability to work independently to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems of heavy industrial lathes. The Service Engineer must have excellent customer service skills and be able to demonstrate heavy lathe equipment to clients interested in rebuilding older heavy lathes. Due to the urgency of filling this position the client will consider any hiring option Direct Hire or Contract to Direct hire. The Service Engineer position is located in the Chicago area and relocation is available for the qualified candidate. 40% travel for field service work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Installs new or modified equipment at customer's facility according to specifications
- Resolves technical problems with equipment and reviews performance reports and documentation from customers and field representatives.
- Inspects malfunctioning or damaged products to determine nature and scope of problem and coordinates problem resolution with engineering and customer service to expedite repairs.
- Provides on-site technical assistance to help troubleshoot, repair equipment and conducts mechanical,electrical repair and provides onsite trainings, installation and alignment of lathes.
- Develops and conducts training on safe operations of the equipment to customers including Lockout/Tag-out, Fork-lift Operator certificates and applicable OSHA, mechanical, and electrical trainings.

REQUIREMENTS

- Mechanical expertise and 5+ years of experience in field servicing Manual and CNC heavy industrial lathes (25' swing and up)
- Must have superior customer service skills and be representative of the company
- Perform troubleshooting CNC machine tools, including parameters setting (CNC control, axes and spindle drives)
- Must be able to make parts using; lathe (CNC/conventional),milling, grinding
- Knowledgeable in using inspection tools, gauges and measurement devices.
