SENIOR UNIX SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR

On behalf of our client, a leading global company within finance, we are looking for a SENIOR UNIX SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR. For this contract position based in Zürich in Switzerland our client is looking for an English and German speaking candidate who can start as soon as possible.

Your main responsibilities will be:

- Installation, Deployment and Operation of UNIX/Linux infrastructure for Investment Bank, Private Bank and Asset Management
- L2 Support (Incident-, Problem-, Change-Management) of high available Solaris/Linux-based server systems and integration of software components
- Operation of test-, integration and production-infrastructure for Sun Solaris and Red Head Linux (RHEL) based applications
- Planning and execution of maintenance on UNIX/Linux systems, including deployment of new operating system releases and Layer 2 (Middleware) components
- Support for integration of new systems and products, including support for projects through all environments from test to production.
- Installation, configuration and root cause analysis with storage management tools (VxVM, VxFS)
- Quality assurance and acceptance tests for UNIX/Linux systems, standard builds and software components
- Root cause analysis and implementation of sustainable solutions
- Support for Life Cycle projects
- Create, revise and update technical documentation
- On-call support (7x24h) for Unix Operations team

The skills and experience needed for this position are:

- Completed apprenticeship in Information Technology or adequate education
- At least 5-8 years of work experience in system administration of Sun Solaris and Red Head Linux Systems in lager environments
- Attendance to 7x24h On-Call support
- Attendance to weekend work and work outside office hours
- Practical experience in Incident-, Problem and Change Management, including root cause analysis
- Knowhow in system administration of Veritas Cluster Systems
- Fluent in English and German (spoken and written)
- Knowledge and/or experience in:
- Naming Services (NIS)
- Systems Management Tools (eg BMC Patrol, ITSM 7, ServiceNow)
- Virtualization (LDOM/VMWare)
- Scripting (Shell/Perl)
- ITIL V3
