Senior Systems Specialist (DBA) - Lead

We need:

Senior System Specialist (DBA) Lead.
Based at our head office, Swindon.
Salary range from £40,721 to £52,039 depending on skills and experience plus excellent benefits.

This is a truly proactive role. Working as a Lead within our Infrastructure Services team, you'll provide project and live support for the Microsoft SQL Server databases that sit behind the Mortgage Sales systems, the Online Bank, Mobile Banking, SharePoint, Telephony and many other customer-facing, banking applications. Many of these systems have 24 hour support and there is a DBA on-call Rota. Working in this fast-paced, technically diverse environment can be both challenging and rewarding.

You will have an understanding of other core technologies, for example: Windows, VM environments, and SAN. You will have the ability to articulate best practice for database management and database security.

You will identify and deliver performance improvement to both services and databases. You'll have a key role to play in designing and implementing new infrastructure for projects, making it quicker, easier and safer for our business to access information.

Who we're looking for

Thanks to your solid experience within information systems, you'll have excellent technical knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008/2012 and Windows Server 2003/2008/2012. You'll also have experience of securing databases, database design, performance tuning and upgrading between SQL versions. You will have experience managing very large databases. You will also have good knowledge of current ETL/ECCD tools or processes and experience of datawarehouse or large data store technologies.

You will respond quickly to major incidents and lead the investigations. With your excellent communication skills you will be able to articulate risks and issues. You will act as a mentor to more junior staff and able to provide in depth technical advice to other areas of the Nationwide. You will be very motivated and ready to take on a key system responsibility in the team.
