Senior Systems Engineer (Puppet)

Our client is the world's leading financial service seeking a SENIOR SYSTEMS ENGINEER with Puppet experience for a premium contract opportunity.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Support automation functions including provisioning, configuration, and deployment of platform components.
- Automate processes for repeatability, high availability and disaster recovery.
- Provide technical support in managing development and customer-facing environments.
- Work with functional teams in engineering, operations, release management and development to manage releases, troubleshoot and resolve issues in systems, applications, and networks.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

- 3+ years of experience with Linux systems
- Passionate about automating tasks intelligently and the belief that something done more than twice should be automated
- Ability to work closely with developers to investigate and debug issues
- Experience doing independent research to solve problems and understand solutions
- Familiarity with configuration frameworks such as Puppet/Chef
- Understand the Agile Software Development Lifecycle and the process of getting code from development to production
- Experience with troubleshooting and resolving multi-tier application stacks
- Knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, HTTP, NTP, DNS, NFS, CIFS
- Knowledge of storage concepts including RAID levels, SANs, File Systems
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies like VMware
- Proficiency in Bash Scripting

DESIRED SKILLS:

- Experience with monitoring systems like Nagios, Splunk and OPNET
- Proficiency in other Scripting languages like Python, Ruby
- Hands-on experience with building/managing scalable and reliable infrastructure
- Experience with distributed systems like Hadoop, HBase, Hive, Zookeeper, Pig
- Experience implementing security concepts through a virtualization environment
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science

This contract position is expected to be 6 months in duration.
