Senior Systems Engineer - OPS MVS

Our client is the world's leading financial service seeking an OPS/MVS SYSTEMS ENGINEER for an excellent contract opportunity. This candidate will be responsible for all functionality, design, integration, and implementation, using working knowledge of z/OS tools and subsystems.

JOB DUTIES

- Responsible for all OPS/MVS functionality, design, integration, and implementation
- Working knowledge of z/OS tools and subsystems
- Basic support of major z/OS subsystems
- System and application monitoring
- Consulting with and supporting capacity planning efforts
- Provide 24X7 production support of corporate operations and second level z/OS application and system support
- Requires on-call rotational support for geographically dispersed data centers
- In-depth knowledge of various ISV software tools
- Some work with SMP/E
- Manage workload and escalate to Sr. Engineers and manager, as needed
- Work with other support, development, and user groups to manage requests from the perspective of automation and BRP failover design and functionality
- Work with vendors on software issues and problems as needed
- Exercises independent judgment with minimal direction from supervisor

SKILLS

- Significant (3 or more years) z/OS systems engineering or programming experience
- 5 or more years total Information Technology experience
- Experience with configuration of z/OS operating system and significant subsystems
- Experience with installation, maintaining, and implementation of z/OS and ISV software
- Strong problem determination skills
- In-depth experience with OPS/MVS functionality, design, integration, and implementation
- Understanding of SSMGA functionality and implementation
- Experience with GDDR functionality, automation, Scripting, control, and testing
- Basic knowledge of documentation tools, such as Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint
- Ability to work with management and users from all levels of knowledge and expertise
- Ability to work independently
- Working knowledge of z/OS tools and subsystems, including by not exclusive to, JES2, TSO, ISPF, SDSF, SMP/E, and ASM
- Ability to work with management and users from all levels of knowledge and expertise
- Team player with strong communication skills
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent

NICE TO HAVE: Understanding of SSMGA functionality and implementation; Experience with GDDR functionality, automation, Scripting, control, and testing; Understanding of alerting systems/tools.
