SR. SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR-ENGINEER

RESPONSIBILITIES

- The Sr. Systems Administrator implements, configures and plays a lead role in the well-being of the complex systems we manage for our internal and external customers.
- They assist in performing analysis on existing systems as well as executing regular system maintenance. Interpreting requirements, determining system specifications and understanding infrastructure input/output processes are a part of their daily repertoire.
- The Sr. Systems Administrator will partake in the design of server and storage subsystems and provide guidance on how to integrate with other systems within the enterprise.
- Identifies, analyzes and resolves incidents, changes and problems as part of a rigorous change management program.
- Develops timelines and root cause for certain incidents while recommending corrective actions to prevent similar future problems.
- Performs day-to-day, complex system administration and monitoring tasks for enterprise level storage and Servers. Works with internal and external customers and vendors to resolve technical system problems in a timely manner with a primary focus on complex problems.
- Supports application engineering, network and database teams by coordinating high-level tasks discussion, change reviews, performance analysis and act as a subject matter expertise in their respective technology areas.
- Install, upgrade, manage and analyze NetApp, EMC and Hitachi storage arrays.
- Will have partial responsibility installing, upgrading and analysing VMware-based virtualization solutions on Cisco UCS and IBM System X server platforms.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science and/or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of technical experience in product architecture and/or production IT environments. Prior experience in a managed services environment is preferred.
- Previous experience in designing and/or implementing systems with a focus on scalability and high-availability.
- Experience with Data Encryption for data at rest
- Experience with configuring and troubleshooting development and production environments.
- 5+ years experience with Hitachi (VSP or G400), NetApp, VMware or a combination of these.
- Experience with Brocade DCX zoning and port provisioning
- Previous exposure to Incident, Change and Problem management programs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience with Windows, Linux, UNIX and/or Solaris.
- VCP and/or NCDA certifications are a plus.
- General overhead cabling and patch paneling work.
- EMC, Hitachi, Brocade, and Netapp storage with fiber channel and fiber channel NPIV protocol experience.
- Experience with Cisco UCS and IBM System X Servers platforms.
- Experience with performance analysis tools such as Netapp Insight, EMC SPA or VM Turbo.
- Data center migration experience including exposure to replication methodologies and data migration techniques.
- Experience with backup and recovery products such as Netbackup, Commvault, Backup Exec or CA Arcserv
