SENIOR SOLUTIONS ARCHITECT (PRIMARILY MICROSOFT TECHNOLOGIES)

DESCRIPTION:
The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is an international organisation promoting global monetary and financial stability and is a bank for central banks. The BIS's head office is located in Basel, Switzerland, with representative offices in Hong Kong SAR and Mexico City. We are looking for a Senior Solutions Architect (with a corporate title of Senior IT Applications Architect) to join our Architectureperform pre- and post-project architecture reviews
- Collaborate with the IT department and business areas to define and promote common architecture principles, standards, tools and implementation methodologies
- Maintain reliable software infrastructure services (eg SVN, TeamCity, Team Foundation Server, Development Tools and Frameworks) and ensure consistency in the Application Platform Strategy
- Organize application development forums to promote technical exchange amongst developers
- Contribute to IT projects and the assessment/bench testing of IT solutions
- Manage the current portfolio of application development tools provided to developers across the Bank and ensure that they evolve over time to meet developers' needs
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- University degree (ideally master's) in computer science
- Deep knowledge of Microsoft technologies (including C# .NET, WCF, WPF,WF, Visual Studio) and web development
- Strong applications architecture and Datamodelling skills
- Strong system administration/configuration skills (eg Application Server, web Servers)
- Ability to remain up to date with technical innovations and learn and apply new skills on an ongoing basis
- Adept at problem-solving with a proven ability to find creative technical solutions
- Proven track record in expanding applications architecture strategies and providing progressive, innovative software infrastructure services
- High level of customer orientation; ability to build strong relationships within the IT department and across the business
- Strong communication and presentation skills with an excellent command of written and spoken English
- At least five years' experience as a senior systems developer and/or architect with a proven track record in the implementation of software infrastructure services
