Senior Software Developer - Vertebrate Resequencing Informatics

Eingestellt von Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute

Gesuchte Skills: Perl

Projektbeschreibung

We are seeking an outstanding scientific programmer or software developer to lead methods development and analysis in the Vertebrate Resequencing Informatics team at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute.

The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute is a world leader in delivering large scale genome sequencing projects using the latest sequencing technologies. The Vertebrate Resequencing Informatics team at the institute is responsible for the delivery of many of the largest human and mouse DNA sequencing projects in the world, including major parts of the 1000 Genomes Project , UK10K project and Haplotype Reference Consortium. In recent years, our group has led the development of internationally adopted methods to efficiently store, search and represent genome sequencing data, for example in the SAMtools/BCFtools/HTSlib package and associated BAM and VCF formats.

We are now looking to build the the next generation of imputation and phasing tools based on new ideas. We seek a strong scientific programmer or software developer, who will work alongside developers in our team and with researchers in the Durbin research group, to build and apply these new methods to large scale human genome sequence data sets.

This role would suit somebody with highly developed programming skills who is looking for a new challenge. The successful candidate will work closely with established lead developers and analysts in the team so previous experience with sequencing data is not strictly necessary. This position would be an excellent opportunity for someone to contribute to the leading edge of genomics methods development and analysis.
