Senior Safety Consultant

Senior Safety Engineer/Senior Safety Consultant required for a world leading Aerospace and Defence Company based out of Boscombe Down for a 6 month initial contract. Candidate will be required to conduct Safety inspections on military rotary wing aircraft.

Roles and responsibilities

* Carrying out System Safety Assessments on Rotary Wing Aircraft

* Carrying out Independent Technical Evaluation of aircraft Design Organisation System Safety Assessment Reports for the introduction of new systems/capabilities onto the Lynx and/or Chinook Helicopter

* Involvement with Hazard Identification sessions, with aircraft mechanical, electrical, avionic and flight physics staffs

* Investigating and assessing the efficacy of proposed mitigating controls

* Populating an Evaluation Hazard Log, assess safety risks based on initial findings, and propose follow/on safety measures

* Conducting in/depth analysis of catastrophic and critical safety risks

* Production of Safety Case assessment reports, HAZID, HAZOP, Hazard logs and other Safety and risk assessments

Essential skills and competencies

* Experience with carrying out System Safety assessments or Airworthiness experience with Rotary Wing Aircraft/preferably Chinook, Lynx, and/or Wildcat

* Familiarity with Safety Engineering tools and techniques such as HAZID, HAZOP, PHA, FHA, FFA, Hazard logs, Platform Loss Models

* Experience with eCassandra system

* Experience within the defence and aerospace sector

* Be able to obtain SC clearance

Desirable skills and competencies

* Experience of the DOORS system

* Current SC Clearance

* Engineering, Aeronautical or Systems Engineering Qualification/Degree/PGCert

* Chartered Engineer

* Understanding of in/depth safety analysis techniques such as FMEA, FTA, ETA
