Senior Portal Design Engineer

Role specific technical skills

- Experience of leading on technical deliverables within a project setting.
- Experience in the design and development of scalable Consumer/Business Web Applications
- Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle, in particular using Agile and Waterfall development methodologies.
- Excellent documentation skills, particularly:

Technical Documentation

o Datamodelling
o Software/Hardware Architecture
o Visio/PowerPoint etc 
- Design, build and test network/application components. 
- Ensuring delivery targets are met on time, to budget, and meet applicable quality criteria. 
- Excellent working knowledge of a selection of these technologies and applications including:

o Internet technologies (HTTP, DNS etc)
o Web Applications
o J2EE, PHP
o Web Services (SOAP, REST)
o Data Interchange Formats (XML,JSON)
o Tomcat/JBOSS ESB
o Hudson, Jenkins, other continuous integration tools
o SQL Server, LDAP, NoSQL Solutions
o Shell, Perl & Python Scripting
o Single Sign-On (SAML, OpenID)
o Web Application Security Standards (OWASP etc) 
- Good operational knowledge of network infrastructure, Operating Systems (Windows, Red Hat, Solaris), Virtualisation (VMWare ESX), Databases (SQL Server, MySQL, NoSQL solutions) and related applications. 
- Familiarity with existing web technologies and future trends 
- Good knowledge of relevant protocols and standards (TOGAF, W3C etc)
