Senior Oracle Developer - English Speaking Contract in Zurich

For a global bank based here in Zurich we are looking for a Senior PL/SQL Developer to join a project.

The Job:

The Portfolio Solutions department owns applications and software components that are used by front facing employees (eg, relationship managers, investment consultants) in the context of the advisory process as well as portfolio construction, analysis and monitoring. Additionally, these capabilities are being increasingly exposed also to end-clients. This role will support the delivery teams and take ownership of the DB area.

Key Responsibilities:

- Responsibility for defining, documenting and maintaining the logical as well as the physical data model
- DB productions issues as well as performance bottlenecks
- Create and implement DB designs and artifacts (incl. tables, views, scripts, stored procedures, etc.)
- Ensure consistency on how data is used and stored
- Execute and support the production deployments and consult the delivery teams when needed (especially in relation to performance-related optimizations)

Overview of the department/team (team size, backgrounds, personalities ):

- The IT projects in the Portfolio Solutions department are lead and implemented by several delivery teams (some located onsite in Zurich and other located offshore). Each team consists of 7 to 10 team members and is independent, covering all the disciplines, from requirement engineering, to development, until testing. The delivery teams are supported by a central infrastructure team and by the program leads.
- This role will work closely together with the delivery teams, especially with the technical leads.

Essentials Skills and Qualifications:

- EXCELLENT KNOWLEDGE OF DATABASES (ORACLE IS A STRONG PLUS), SQL AND PL/SQL (8+ YEARS)
- Very good understanding of performance tuning and optimization of database systems - we are not looking for an Oracle DBA
- Good Datamodelling skills
- Fluency in English (spoken and written), German is a plus
