Senior Network Engineer

The Senior Network Engineer is required in the current organization to design, maintain and optimise the MPLS core network carrying B2B and residential services. She/he acts as the technical lead for related capacity upgrade and feature enhancement projects. She/he collaborates with engineers in the various operating countries and other Corporate departments (Operations and Design).

Skills requirements:
Strong knowledge of IP Networks and relevant design (CCIE or JNCIE is a plus)
Strong knowledge of high end Juniper and Cisco platforms (MX and ASR series)
Proven solid experience in high-scale IP Networks - BGP, MPLS, QoS, OSPF, ISIS, Multicast etc.
Good experience with network monitoring, reporting and planning tools
Experience with Unix developments and SQL databases - Perl, C++, MySQL is a plus
Used to work with the Microsoft Windows and Office Suite
Fluent in spoken and written English
Good interpersonal skills, able communicator
Team player
Experience in multinational and multicultural environments
Bachelor degree in Information Technology or Computer/Electrical Engineering or equivalent industry experience
10 years of overall experience in designing and engineering complex large scale IP Networks

Duties:

1. Engineering design (Main Responsibility)
Understand the business requirements and translate them into technical network solutions (capacity and functionalities), Support the budgeting and spend justification process (Bills of Material, network drawings etc.)
Design and plan the MPLS network down to the access networks in the Countries in an optimal and cost effective way, according to company technical guidelines
Produce network engineering solutions and designs, bills of material, implementation & migration plans and documents taking into account all related network elements
Carry out network implementations and migrations and handover the new networks to Operations and to 3rd parties
Review and validate design and migration plans of consultant engineers

2. Problem and Compliance management
Deal with major incidents in terms of Tier-3 escalations
Provide root cause analysis on major incidents and follow up on corrective measures
Discover and address systematic problems in the network design
Liaise with the vendors for major incident and problem management

3. Testing
Perform Lab testing of major software loads and new hardware components
Perform end to end testing of engineered solutions before the implementation takes place

4. Mergers & Acquisitions
Contribution to the Mergers & Acquisitions process in terms of technical assessments of the networks in question
