Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

A Senior Mechanical Engineer is urgently required for an initial 3 month contract (extension possible)

The individual will be required to carry out and/or control an assigned task or project, from instigation right through to completion, in either a Focal or lead design/certification role
The tasking and motivation of both permanent and sub-contract staff assigned to the project
To initiate and attend design reviews and progress meetings, and liaise with the customer, interfacing departments, sub-contractors or suppliers as required.

To lead and control the mechanical design aspects of an aircraft modification project through to successful certification, with understanding of both customer and airworthiness requirements.
The incumbent will be working on mechanical/structural design packages. The client work on a much broader scope of design projects than most companies and they will have technical responsibility, but not delivery responsibility. They need to be very good at running projects.

Experience Required:
Design experience in the aerospace industry working on aircraft modifications and knowledge of a recognised CAD System. Ideally SolidEdge.
A very good understanding and experience of current civil aerospace certification requirements, and in particular, EASA Part 21 Subpart J.
Should have experience of leading design teams (of various size) to a successful conclusion of aircraft modification program.
Previous experience as a EASA 21 J CVE.
They will be working mainly on civil projects, but some military, so experience of MOD process would be useful.
Should have a sound working knowledge of AutoCAD R14, or 2002, and be conversant with Microsoft Office 97.
The incumbent will have specific previous knowledge of internal and external structures (pods). Someone who has experience of cabin refits would not be suitable.
