SENIOR MARINE ENGINEER (CHIEF ENGINEER) - TRIALS, NAVY, MANAGEMENT

A Senior Marine Engineer (Chief Engineer) with Trials, Management and Navy experience is required to work on a six month contract with the possibility of extension for our Defence client based in Glasgow.

This is a 6 month contract with a leading UK defence business.

OVERVIEW OF THE SENIOR MARINE ENGINEER (CHIEF ENGINEER) CONTRACT ROLE

Trials & Commissioning are looking for a Qualified (STCW approved) Senior Marine Engineer (Chief Engineer) to assist with the setting to work and operation of the Offshore Patrol Vessels on the River Clyde.

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE SENIOR MARINE ENGINEER (CHIEF ENGINEER)

- Qualified (STCW approved)
- Merchant Navy Chief Engineer Qualified
- Experience of being responsible for the safe operation and management of a ship of a similar nature.
- A sound working knowledge of safe engineering and health and safety practices will be required.
- The individual must be capable of controlling the ship's Machinery Control Room ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all ship's machinery and managing the associated watch keeping staff during all dynamic evolutions including Sea Trials.
- Experience in engineering leadership/management in the marine sector or related industry.
- Specialist operator management and engineering skills/qualifications.
- Commercial awareness, management of sub-contractors and risk management.
- Detailed knowledge and experience of engineering practices and modern commissioning activities.
- Strong people management skills and leadership experience in a multi- disciplined engineering environment.
- Educated to Engineering Degree level or hold a strong HND/HNC with the relevant engineering experience.

The role is based in Glasgow - Commutable from Kilmarnock, Paisley, Greenock, Stirling and Falkirk with excellent access from Edinburgh.
