We are looking for a self-motivated SENIOR SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR, with a minimum of 8 years of Linux, Windows and NetApp administration experience and 2 years of Project Management experience to be part of our client's engineering support team. Excellent technical knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Windows 7, ONTAP OS for Network Appliance File Servers, VMware vSphere Hypervisor, Active Directory and NIS/LDAP, as well as good Scripting/programming skills are required.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

- System Administrator will be part of the engineering support team that supports over 1,000 engineers and datacenters/server rooms at 30+ design sites worldwide, with 24x7 on-call rotating support.
- Systems include: Linux workstations and Servers, Window 7 desktop and laptops, Network Appliance File Servers, printers and plotters.
- System administration support includes: license Servers; file Servers; design data management Servers; DNS and NIS/LDAP infrastructure Servers; user desktops and laptops; login Servers and remote access software; office applications and email; and user account management.
- Other support tasks include: system and network performance monitoring and tuning; and IO monitoring and analysis.
- The person will have to review system metrics for storage and Servers, and recommend solutions to resolve the issues.

As part of the job duties, this position requires:

- Meetings with internal customers on a regular basis to understand their needs, prioritize the tasks, and ensure that the projects are completed in a timely manner. Timely response to customer issues is required.
- Driving standards for system administration processes and writing scripts to automate the processes.
- Justification, procurement, installation and support for hardware and software for the design sites being supported. The person will meet with the hardware and software vendors to understand technology trends and recommend solutions to satisfy customer needs.
- Participation in weekly team meetings and creating project plans.
- Participation in the planning of sites moves and integration of hardware and software infrastructure of acquired companies.
- Participation in the datacenter asset audits and travel to other supported sites to install server hardware.
- Manage Engineering Server and Engineering Desktop Standardization projects and travel to supported sites to install equipment and user training. Up to 25% travel may be expected.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Minimum 8 years of experience with designing, implementing, and managing hardware and software solutions, and supporting engineering compute environments
- Minimum 2 years of experience with IT Project Management
- Mentoring and overseeing work of junior team members

- System Provisioning: Kickstart, PXE, Cobbler, cfEngine, Package Management

- Authentication: NIS, LDAP, Red Hat Directory Server, Active Directory
- Virtualization: VMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi 5.0)
- Networking: 10GbE, iSCSI, TCP/IP, SSH, RSYNC, FTP, DNS, DHCP, NTP, HTTP
- Scripting/Programming: PERL, bash, C, HTML, CSS, JavaScript
- Database: MySQL
- Server Monitoring: Nagios
- Remote Server Administration: HP iLO, IBM IMM
- Linux Productivity Tools: Open Office and Thunderbird email client
