Sr. Back End Java Developer

6 month + contract

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE(S)

Sr. Back End Java developer will be responsible for development of highly scalable ingestion and access APIs on NoSQL Or Oracle/RDBMS platform. This person will need to have a deep understanding, not just pure extractions. This project will be working very close to the metal. He/she will also be responsible for building data push services using AMQP based messaging services. Proficiency in Service Orient Architecture and RSETful web services is required. He/she will work closely with technical leads and application architects to design and implement highly scalable APIs in conjunction with large data sets.

SPECIFIC SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/DESIRED:

MUST HAVE:

7+ years of prior hands-on experience developing software applications using Java technologies.

5+ years most recent experience building Java web services (RESTful preferred, SOAP okay)

5+ years of heavy experience using RDMS (recent NoSQL experience preferred)

Complete skill set:

- Creating designs (esp. class and sequence diagrams; state, activity, component, collaboration, and deployment diagrams a plus) and use of design patterns
- Testing - unit, integration, load and automated testing. Technologies such as: JUnit/TestNG, EasyMock/Mockito/JMockit, jMeter/LoadRunner/Grinder/LoadUI
- Working with others/communication - gathering requirements from business, leading developers, presentations
- Build tools - Maven, Ant, Gradle
- Version control - svn (subversion), git, mecurial

Diversity - should see some skills beyond the above such as:

- Shell Scripting
- Cloud computing (AWS (Amazon), Rackspace, Azure, other cloud providers)
- Build/test automation
- Administer Servers/systems/application containers (JBoss, Tomcat, WebSphere, Weblogic, Resin)/databases
