SENIOR INTERACTION DESIGNER SANTA CLARA, CA 1 YEAR CONTRACT

The Sr. Interaction Designer works closely with other interaction designers, visual designers, product managers and engineering teams throughout the product life cycle. S/He is responsible for discovery, ideation, user needs analysis, concepts, wireframes and specifications. Some research, prototyping and/or visual design may also be part of the role, depending on individual skill and interest.

Strong candidates have demonstrated excellent user interaction design skills as well as product management skills. As a senior member the team, the Designer will take a very visible role within the team as an advocate for the overall User Experience. The Sr. Interaction Designer will own one or more products as a product manager in addition to interaction design responsibilities.

A strong candidate needs excellent user interaction design skills, experience thinking in terms of end-to-end UI design, applying strategic thinking and business goals to designs, focusing on user feedback, and understanding the relationship between visual design and interaction. The Sr. Interaction Designer is responsible for delivering all aspects of interaction design: initial concepts, wireframes, creating functional specifications, working with product managers to define requirements, working with visual designers to create visual mocks and assets, and working with usability researchers to refine personas and market understanding, and working with engineering and QA through implementation.

In addition to interaction design responsibilities, s/he needs experience defining product requirements and direction, market strategies, release schedules. Great product managers complete the experience loop by generating strategies and artifacts for customer support, sales and marketing.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Participate in the discovery and requirements process with the Product Manager, Engineering Manager and User Research
- Drive the clarification of the user tasks and objectives
- Develop detailed user interface design concepts and wireframes, usage scenarios, task analysis, specifications, navigation maps, style guidelines, and other UI design documents
- Develop expert knowledge of competitive and complementary products and bring new ideas to the team
- Develop expert-level knowledge of more than one platform (eg, Android, iOS, Win8, Win7, web app)
- Develop expert-level knowledge of client products with the ability to present any feature-set to customers (internal or external)
- Work with Usability Researchers to ensure that the designs meet the needs of our target customers
- Coordinate with the team to ensure the design solves for the user experience, fits the overall brand, supports engineering needs, etc.
- Work directly with engineering team to help drive through execution

QUALIFICATIONS

- 7+ years as an Interaction Designer and Product Manager preferred
- Strong, proven experience with consumer-focused designs
- Exceptional understanding of fundamental design principals
- Strong conceptual, visual and analytical skills
- Exceptional proven leadership, organizational and communication skills
- Relentless attention to detail and to consistency
- Bachelors or Master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Design, a related field, or comparable experience
