Senior Hardware Engineer

Hardware Design Engineer required to provide expertise to rapidly develop and deliver a prototype item of equipment with sufficient maturity necessary to support EMC testing.

Typical activities will include:
Elicit equipment functional, environmental and interface requirements.
Elaborate a concept design into a design concept that will fulfil the requirements set.
Develop the detailed design necessary for the EMC testing prototype pedigree that will be delivered.
Perform Design Validation by simulation, or other suitable methods.
Produce associated design data pack to enable procurement and manufacture of the design (circuit diagrams, PCB layout guidance and constraints, Bills Of Material).
Liaise with the Systems Engineering and Mechanical Engineering teams to ensure the hardware design is part of an integrated prototype solution.
Develop programming for firmware component of concept solution.
Liaise with Manufacturing and Supply Chain to support procurement/fabrication/assembly planning.
Support to integration and commissioning of equipment.

The successful candidate will have the below skills:
Demonstrable experience of rapid hardware design and development.
Demonstrable experience of specifying high-speed digital layout design constraints.
Good understanding of USB, RS232, RS423 and Ethernet interfaces.
Competence in Mentor Boardstation toolset.
Self-motivated, delivery focused, excellent communicator, with decision-making and problem solving skills.
Ability to work within a team.
Candidates must be willing to undergo a security vetting procedure.
