Senior Hardware Design Engineer

I am currently recruiting for an innovative Hardware Design Engineer to work for a client of mine based inCambridge. Fantastic salary and package which can be disclosed upon application.
You will join their team developing the next generation of market-leading optical switch platforms for agile fibre optic communications networks. The role will include hardware design, development, implementation, testing and support of their range of photonic switch products.
Key responsibilities will be:
* Experience of complete hardware design cycle from concept through to manufacturing release.
* Digital & analogue hardware design, schematic capture and implementation.
* Validation testing and qualification of resilient hardware and firmware designs.
* Test tool development for commissioning and manufacture.
The ideal candidate should have experience in:

· Xilinx - Spartan family
· VHDL

Experience in the following is also highly desirable:

· Microprocessors such as PIC, OMAP or TRA

· CPLD's
