Senior Devops Engineer

SENIOR DEVOPS ENGINEER (SC)

LOCATION: Milton Keynes or Bracknell - some possible travel to other sites (either MK/Bracknell, London..)

Contract: 3 months (potential for extension)

Northgate require a Senior DevOps Engineer for a new project. There are no resources internally and this person will be required to mentor and train up a team.

The Senior DevOps engineer will build and manage the server environment that runs Northgate applications and support its infrastructure.

CORE DUTIES:

- Develop and maintain server and network configurations in the cloud and on-premise
- Build things in a sustainable, repeatable, and balanced way
- Be proactive in identifying and fixing potential problem areas
- Defining and delivering cloud agnostic IaaS and PaaS components to support in-house developed software and data models
- Design for a Cloud agnostic solution that has maximum flexibility and operability
- Work with both the Architecture group and our Application/Solution Development Lead to rationalize the right set of requirements and drive the selection of the right commercial/open-source technologies
- Streamlining the processes of getting things from code to production safely and continually
- Operational automation to support code release framework, Continuous delivery of changes augmented by automated testing.
- Design/manage process for Docker creation pipeline
- Participation in Scrum style development team

EVALUATION CRITERIA:

- Experienced DevOps Engineer, in a production cloud environment (preferably PaaS or Saas) Exp with cloud frameworks, (Openstack, AWS, Cloudstack)
- Experienced in Software development, ideally in infrastructure management
- Hands on exp with GIT, Java and Scripting and with Jenkins
- Senior Engineer - experience managing/mentoring teams
- Linux experience
- Experience in Application development and container-based deployment
- Hands on with SQL
- Hands on with Firewalls, load balancers, DNS, web server security and other technologies such as caching, monitoring and performance tuning a plus
- SC Clearance (SC) highly desirable or at least be willing and eligible to undergo SC clearance.

SC CLEARANCE (SC) HIGHLY DESIRABLE OR AT LEAST BE WILLING AND ELIGIBLE TO UNDERGO SC CLEARANCE.
