Senior Developer

SENIOR DEVELOPER SANTA CLARA, CA 12 MONTH CONTRACT

This position is responsible for working closely with management and architects to develop highly complex and sophisticated software. 100% hands-on and ability to lead a team (if needed) is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Design and code, often for the complex units/modules/products that meet functional and business requirements on schedule and within budget.
- Perform unit/module testing of software to find errors and confirm programs meet specifications.
- Fix bugs, add enhancements, and convert software to other platforms.
- Assist quality assurance team by providing assistance to testers and support personnel as needed to determine system problems.
- Collaborate with quality assurance in creation of their test plans and participate in reviews.
- Evaluate impact of software performance, and recommend changes to software design team.
- Suggest improvement of development processes and procedures.
- Communicate project status to all interested parties and ensure tasks stays on track to satisfy business needs and client expectations.
- Identify and escalate issues and when necessary, pull appropriate teams together to solve challenge/issue, etc.
- Recognize potential risks and implement course of action to address them appropriately.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor's Degree or global equivalent in Computer Science or related discipline
- 10+ years of experience in software development and at least 7 years of experience in Java/J2EE development platform
- Must have strong Java, JSP, web services (soap and/or rest), Oracle or similar database, CVS or similar version control system, Tomcat or similar app server, some Linux hands-on
- Strong teamwork skills for cross-group cooperation, ownership traits
- Communications skills, technical knowledge across the industry, analytical skills and the ability to understand complexities and how components connect and relate to each other
- Business awareness
- Coaching and mentoring skills
- Nice to have: C++, online security background
