Senior Developer

BACKGROUND

Our Central Government client is looking to take on a Senior Developer to work a 6 month contract based in Taunton.

The post-holder will be required to work as part of an on-going project to develop and improve our digital product offering. They will also be involved in supporting the existing application alongside development of new features as prioritised by the product owner.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

*The design, code, test, correction and documentation of existing software and future development
*Provide technical advice to internal and external customers and colleagues
*Analyse customer requirements and problems, then generate potential solutions and communicate these to the business owners as well as technical colleagues
*Document changes to the system and application architecture overviews
*Develop relationship with System Owner, Key Users and Users for the application under development

OUTPUTS/DELIVERABLES TO BE ACHIEVED

Working as part of the development team focussed on the delivery of an on-going project the candidates measure of success will be in the completion of each delivery according to the timescales, requirements and quality as predefined by the project. Each delivery will comprise of technical documentation, analysis, development, adherence to SDP (Software Development Process) and unit testing.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Essential Skills

The post-holder must have:
*Have demonstrable working knowledge of the following programming languages:-
oC#
oASP.NET
oSQL

*Have demonstrable working knowledge of the following:-
oUnit Testing (MSTest, NUnit, RhinoMocks).
oContinuous Integration (Jenkins, TFS/MSBuild)
oVersion Control(Subversion and/or TFS)

*Plus a good knowledge of at least one of the following technologies and design principles:-
oXML
oMicrosoft SharePoint
oUML
oSQL Server
oSOA

Desirable Qualifications

Tool/product/platform specific accreditation as appropriate, such as:
*MCTS (Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist)
*MCPD (Microsoft Certified Professional Developer)
