Senior Deskside Image Engineer

Our client is looking for an energetic Sr. Deskside Imaging Engineer to join a highly motivated team of IT Client Services professionals providing outstanding support to Employees. In this exciting role, you will develop global PC and software roadmaps. This role will possess a deep understanding of all of the applications and services provided on the standard client PC and Mobile Devices.

You will have the opportunity to provide solutions that meet Business and IT needs. You will develop a three year strategic plan for the desktop solutions. You will engineer an image deployment system that will span 20 plus locations around the globe. Your design/solution will leverage Windows Server Replication scheme and storage systems. You will partner with network and Windows Server peers to ensure that your solution is aligned with their respective environments.

Reporting to the Senior Manager of IT Client Services and based in Redwood City, CA, the successful candidate will be a key member of a lean and high impact IT organization of 100 people who are aligned in several geographically dispersed centers in over 25 countries that support an employee base of over 2, 400 people.

The Sr. Deskside Imaging Engineer will have a positive, "can-do" attitude, great communication skills, business acumen, and the ability to jump in and make things happen. You will possess excellent project management skills. You will be able to influence peers and customers without authority.

You will also be viewed as a technical resource for the global deskside team. You will be able to lead training sessions, and address questions in one on one and team meetings. You will be responsible for developing the Desktop/PC computing strategy for the client, and production of outstanding documentation related to your imaging solution design and implementation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Manage global PC images
- Ensure quarterly updates
- Provide documentation on design and deployment of images
- Provide monthly metrics on the image deployed
- Provide Asset info and integration from SCCM into our CMDB
- Focus on continuous system improvement (Improve boot up and shutdown times, reduce the imaging time, etc.)
- Excellent skills and experience in the area of Install Building/Package building using Industry Best Practices as well as Industry-known tools etc. Windows Installer, Wise Package Studio, App Stream packaging
- Ability to package common productivity applications like Office 2010, Project, Adobe applications
- Mature Data Migration tools like USMT and EZ transfer
- Demonstrated ability to manage a development and release cycle
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly with management, IT staff, and peers
- Ability to follow direction, but also to "think outside the box" when needed
- Ability to drive continuous system improvements into the imaging process and ensure that bug and enhancement requests are captured and addressed on a monthly basis
- Excellent knowledge and technical understanding of the Windows Operating System. Mac Operating System a plus

EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

- 3+ years of experience in the following:
- Desktop Image Design and Migration
- OS: XP, Windows 7 (32bit/64bit)
- Zero Touch Installation (ZTI)
- Low Touch Installation (LTI)
- Microsoft Desktop Optimization Package (MDOP)
- Microsoft Deployment Toolkit experience
- Application Compatibility or Application Compatibility Factory (ACF)
- Application Assessment
- Application Packaging
- Altiris-(nice to have)
- Microsoft Virtualization technologies
- VDI (MS/Citrix)
- App-V
- Experience with SMS or SCCM- System Center Configuration
- Experience repairing Lenovo and Dell Hardware
- Experience supporting Windows 7, Office 2010, Outlook/Exchange 2010
- Experience with Active Directory and Exchange Administration
- Experience in supporting mobile device active synch (Android/IOS) and Blackberry
- Strong interpersonal and customer relationship skills.
- Ability to communicate a technical message to a non-technical audience, focusing on managing customer expectations.
- Good problem solving, fault spotting skills.
- Experience in formal technical training of your IT peers or customers
- Experience in writing user documentation
- Experience in triage work with an IT organization
- Strong communication skills
- Mac experience desirable
- ITIL Foundations V.3 certification desirable
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related technical discipline
