Senior Database Administrator

One of my clients, a top financial firm in Chicago, is looking to bring on an Oracle DBA to their technical team in Chicago. This person should have a mixture between Oracle and SQL background to be successful. Here is a brief overview of the role.

Responsibilities:
* Managing large scale Oracle deployments in term of DB size and number of servers

* Scripting ability and good working knowledge of Shell Scripts
* Understanding of Oracle internal architecture
* Performance tuning of Oracle database and SQL is required
* Database software management (installation, patching and version management)
* Database utilities: backup, restore, export and import.
* Recovery, logging, authentication, and authorizations
* Familiar with Oracle Enterprise Manager and other support tools to manage a database environment
* Table spaces, indexes, and partitioning capabilities

Requirements:
* 8 or more years' experience in the database development life cycle
* 6 or more years' experience with Oracle running on a distributed platform
* Strong SQL skills including the ability to rewrite complex queries for performance improvements
* Experience with Oracle 10g and 11g is required
* Performance tuning experience including extensive experience with explains and system snapshots
* Strong communication skills
