Senior Consultant

Our client, a leading consultancy within the Energy arena is seeking a senior consultant to join their UK, energy and waste division

The successful candidate will lead the company's deliverables on key contracts, providing high quality technical advice on waste to energy projects for private sector clients (including waste management contractors) and public authorities. This could include areas such as business case development, procurement (development of tenders or assessment of bids), plant construction, commissioning and operational follow up.

The successful candidate will be comfortable with discussing technical detail with colleagues and clients. They will work closely with senior management and decision makers internally and within client organisations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:

Assemble the project teams to deliver the specified service to clients, drawing on the resources from other teams and offices and external expertise if necessary.

Manage the delivery of the technical advice to the client in accordance with the terms of engagement.

Maintain contacts with clients and ensure projects are completed to their satisfaction and opportunities for follow-on work are optimised.

Ensure work stages are completed and reports are prepared, checked and quality assured prior to delivery to the client.

Manage the revenues and costs of projects to attain or exceed margin.

Define the scope of services that the company can offer to the target market/customer.

Identify and work with key clients, particularly waste industry players, presenting the company's services and capability.

Organise the production and presentation of proposals to potential clients.

Support the Director in negotiations to win the work.

Maintain technical and professional excellence through a programme of professional development and education.

Represent the team in industry forums such as conferences, exhibitions and seminars.

Working in the UK and as part of an international team, with the need to attend meetings and business trips away from the office.

THE PERSON WILL BE:

Graduate in an engineering or technical discipline.

Background in technical and engineering consultancy or client organisation within energy from waste/biomass (thermal treatment) or technology suppliers - boilers/grates/air pollution control systems (technical or business development role)

Proven ability to deliver projects, meeting timescales, quality and financial targets. Collaborative approach to delivering solutions to clients' requirements.

Confident working in project teams, principally as leader, other times as supporting member.

Track record of winning business and developing productive long-term client relationships.

Well-developed skills in managing staff and financial resources.

Professionally credible and authoritative as a technical expert.

Capable of delivering high quality written work and verbal communications.
