Senior Compliance Officer

Our Client, an Investment Bank in Central London is looking to recruit a Senior Compliance Officer role for a 6 month contract.

Key Deliverable:

This is a senior role within the compliance function, reporting into the Head of Compliance. Banking experience is essential.

The purpose of the role is to work with the business and peers within the compliance function to ensure that regulatory matters are managed in a professional manner by providing support, advice and the sharing of knowledge both to the business and to the wider compliance function within the organisation.

- Successfully implement against the agreed mission, strategy and objectives of the compliance function
- Influences the compliance risk management culture and methodologies consistent with the functions mission statement
- In conjunction with the Head of Compliance:
- Advise and consult business on regulatory laws and regulations and their interpretation
- Develop and maintain an effective team of skilled and competent compliance professionals that highly respected by the business
- Provide challenge and oversight of the business's resources and capability to deliver on its compliance accountabilities
- Oversee the implementation and functioning of the compliance risk governance framework
- Design and execute compliance monitoring systems and procedures to ensure that the business is operating within their regulatory risk appetite
- Direct supervision and management of compliance team activities (eg One to ones; performance appraisals, review of thematic/focused review reports and regular reporting)

Technical Experience

Required:

- Detailed knowledge and understanding of FSA SYSC, COLL, CASS, COBs rulebooks
- Experienced Compliance professional with several years' experience within custody and/or asset management
- Detailed knowledge of the custody business (including treasury & markets), asset management and third party administration
- Experience of managing regulatory change
- Proven management experience
- Experience of leading compliance aspects of strategic business projects
- Interaction with the FSA and/or other regulators
- Liaison with clients and/or their representatives
- Ability to coach and manage a team - Manage performance and Manage Resources
