Senior Commissioning Officer - 12 month Maternity Contract or secondment

Location: Chelmsford

Salary: £35,500 - £45,000 per annum

Full-time: 37 hours per week

The Role

Working within the Prevention Commissioning team for Adult Social Care, this role is all about developing, commissioning and evaluating approaches to building independence and resilience -to improve outcomes for people in Essex and reduce or delay the need for long-term health and social care support.

Against abackground of structural change across the Public Sector and in a context of increasingly scarce resources, Commissioners need to develop and deliver innovative and responsive strategies, services and approaches; increasing our focus on prevention and enablement, building community capacity and handing choice and control back to the community, citizen, customer or service user.

The post-holder will lead on defined areas of the work programme, but also work collaboratively across the team to ensure delivery in other areas. They will plan and manage commissioning activity, maintaining a strong focus on delivery; they will communicate a clear direction to colleagues and partners and motivate others to achieve. The post-holder will need to think creatively but systematically; they will be able to make evidence- based judgements, but also be willing to take innovative approaches; they will combine energy and enthusiasm with the tenacity and drive to see things through and have strong self management and organisation skills.

Any successful applicant to this post would be appointed on a maternity contract. Secondments will be considered.
