Senior Authorised Person (400 kV)

The renewable energy client is looking for a Senior Authorised Person (400 kV) to work in the NE UK.

The role is to start ASAP until December 2014 (initially)

Working Pattern: 12 hours a day/7 days a week shift pattern for 2 weeks on duty followed by a 2 weeks off duty period. However, 3 weeks on duty periods may occur if required. The SAP will be required to work offshore as well as onshore.

Job Description:

Implement the high voltage safety rules
Outage management and network control
Carry out high voltage switching and isolations
Carry out earthing of high voltage plant and apparatus
Prepare, issue and cancel safety documents
Inspect, test and commission high voltage plant and apparatus
VLF testing of high voltage cables
Identify and fit circuit designation labels and switch numbers
Prepare and check high voltage switching schedules
Fault management
Participate in an out-of hours emergency response rota
Collate site and network information to facilitate effective decision making within the department
Update HV schematic diagrams
Inspect work sites and perform site safety inspections
Check Safety Documents
Implement and provide training programmes for manual and technical staff (CP, AP, etc.)
Provide technical and engineering advice to working parties
Assist the O&M department when required

On-Call: The SAP may be required to be On-Call during the duration of the contract to provide emergency support outside of normal working hours.

For being On-Call the Consultant will receive a Standby rate. In the event of a Call-Out whilst being on Standby during the On-Call period, the Consultant shall receive a Call-Out sum based upon an hourly rate for the duration of the call out. The details will be discussed at application.

Qualifications & Knowledge:

Currently Senior Authorised Person at 155 kV or higher
Electrical and/or Electronic Engineering degree or equivalent.
Technical knowledge of wind farm layout.

Offshore requirements, including:
First Aid
Offshore medical
Working at height with rescue
PST, personal survival techniques
GWO Helicopter Underwater Escape Training
Winch Transfer Training

Experience:

Extensive working experience as Senior Authorised Person operating under company HV Safety Rules.
Electrical engineering working experience in an offshore windfarm environment.
HV Commissioning Experience
Substation SCADA/SCS systems experience
Previously Senior Authorised with a Distribution Network Operator (DNO) Preferably National Grid.
Experience of and locality to the site are desirable.
HV fault finding and analysis experience

Special Requirements:

Physically fit, role will require climbing skills.
Full driving license required.
Must be flexible with regard to working patterns.

Other Issues:

The SAP must bring his/her own mobile telephone. The client will provide access to their systems via computer access.

The client will provide office facilities available to the Consultant including office space.

Consultant must bring own PPE for working offshore

The client will not cover the costs for industry essential training as this is deemed part of the competencies for the proposed individuals to fill the roles.
