Yoh has a contract opportunity for SENIOR ASSOCIATE to join our client in Emeryville, CA.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Independently perform studies with complex scope with some supervision from the Lab Manager to support purification process characterization, process improvement or investigation of purification process-related deviations using Analytical techniques.
- Perform routine laboratory-based Analytical testing for product release.
- Ensure the Analytical laboratory equipment, reagents and chemicals are stocked and ready to perform testing according to the Analytical laboratory schedule.
- Independently perform studies with complex scope with some supervision from the Lab Manager to support purification process characterization, process improvement or investigation of purification process-related deviations using Analytical techniques.
- Reviewing Technical Protocols for studies and providing comments back to the study owners for inclusion in the final protocols.
- Working under limited supervision from Lab Manager to perform 1 to 2 test methods at a time using the following techniques: sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) for purity, western blotting for reactivity, high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) for purity, enzyme-linked immunosorbant assay (ELISA) for activity and protein concentration testing.
- Ensuring their own experimental and sample testing work is performed exactly as defined in the approved Analytical study protocols or test method SOPs.
- Maintaining up to date records of all Analytical study activities in their Company laboratory notebooks according to cGMP and Company documentation requirements.
- Ensuring the Analytical laboratory is stocked at all times with all the required raw materials/reagents/consumables/buffers for the Analytical studies to be performed.
- Preparation of reagents/buffers for the Analytical lab according to approved recipes or approved lab procedures or SOPs Preparation of results sheets from Analytical tests performed.
- Preparation of purchase requisitions as needed to order supplies to keep the Analytical laboratory stocked.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

- B.Sc./M.Sc. in Chemistry/Biochemistry or related discipline.
- Maintaining the Analytical labs in a clean and organized manner to ensure efficient.
- Ten (10+) years of experience in either an Analytical Development or QC Testing environment in the biotechnology or diagnostics industry.
- Prior experience working on Analytical testing of recombinant proteins would be advantageous. - Ability to work independently and have the ability to troubleshoot issues using scientific systematic approach.
- Experience maintaining laboratory scale Analytical equipment.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- May need to work weekends or shift 5 day work week to cover Saturday or Sunday as needed.
- Potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens, such as through work with human blood tissue or other materials derived from humans require lifting over 25 lbs.
- Prior experience working with Analytical test methods such as SDS-PAGE, western blotting, HPLC and ELISA would be advantageous.
