Senior Application Software Engineer

Yoh has a contract opportunity for a SENIOR APPLICATION SOFTWARE ENGINEER to join our client in near Philadelphia, PA.

Job Overview:
We are looking for creative software engineering Star with experience building nimble, open architectures. Our architecture comprises a presentation layer (HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery, CSS3), a data layer (RESTful data API), and a middle layer in Ruby 1.9 and Rails 3.2 using the object-relational mapper. The software engineer will be responsible primarily for the care and feeding of the middle layer, so experience integrating RESTful APIs into Rails using Active Resource, Her or equivalent is required.

Job Qualifications:
- BS in computer science or equivalent; MS preferred.
- Five plus (5+) years of web application development experience integrating RESTful APIs into frameworks like Ruby on Rails using Active Resource, Her or equivalent. Perl mojolicious, Catalyst, etc. experience is a plus.
- Excellent performance, caching, scaling, tuning skills.
- Familiarity with producing/parsing JSON, XML, etc.
- Substantial experience with the Linux environment. Experience with configuring and provisioning Ubuntu systems in the cloud on Rackspace a plus. Devops (Vagrant, Chef, Puppet, etc.) also a plus.
- Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, practices, and procedures, including source control systems (Git preferred).
- Experience building, maintaining, and debugging multi-table relational databases (MySQL preferred). Stored procedure development experience is a plus.
- Pluses: experience with testing tools (eg, RSpec), knowledge of GIS software (Google maps, ESRI), facility with C/C++, HTML5, JavaScript, CSS3, and jQuery .
