Senior Accountant/Manager, Inventory and Cost Accounting

JOB DESCRIPTION

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT/MANAGER, INVENTORY AND COST ACCOUNTING

The primary purpose of this position is to perform day to day activities and analysis that support the financial reporting and close process relating to Inventory and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS). Additionally the role supports the budgeting, forecasting and analysis connected with Inventory and COGS .

RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Active participation in the monthly financial close process
-Preparation of the Close Package
-Reviews of Spending with Cost Center Heads to determine required accruals
-Preparation of Journal Entries in support of the close related to Inventory and COGS
-Analysis of Standard product cost and evaluation of performance against Standards
-Participation in periodic forecasting and budgeting as it relates to Inventory and COGS
-Perform Spending Analyses for COGS related Cost Centers
-Coordinate and review the detail associated with Inventory receipts with Supply Chain Group
-Interface with Contract Manufacturers to assure proper and timely reporting occurs in support of the financial close process
- Manager Two Direct Reports
-Perform Inventory roll forwards and other reconciliations required for financial reporting purposes. Participate as financial representative on project teams as necessary and other ad hoc projects.

The position will serve as the principle finance representative supporting day to day inventory accounting for the manufacturing organization in our Verona, WI location reporting to the Senior Manager, Cost and Financial Analysis. This position will add value by applying business judgment to financial analysis and reporting to members of the Company at the other location.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

-Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting
-Minimum of 5 years cost and inventory accounting experience, General Ledger close activities, and extensive financial analysis experience and work with all aspects of Excel a must.

PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

- Exposure to a Standard Cost system in a manufacturing environment a significant plus.
- Experience with out-sourced manufacturing operations also a plus.

SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

-Advanced (Super User level) experience level with excel required including merging and mining data from various sources
-Exposure to an ERP environment
-Knowledge and understanding of Cost Accounting and correlation with Inventory and General Ledger Accounting
-Ability to recognize and communicate issues derived from analysis performed
-Flexibility to move from one major project to another based on changing priorities
-Excellent verbal and written presentation skills
-Ability to interface with higher levels of Management
-Ability to multitask and perform ad hoc analysis as necessary
