The Job
Mana Education is currently looking for an experienced Teacher to teach a class of 6 Children aged 12 - 16 years.

The Children all have severe Special needs including Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, Autism, Visual Impairment, and Multi-Sensory Impairment.

Mana Education can only consider qualified teachers and experienced SEN or EBD Teachers.

The School
The school we are helping is a Community Special School that helps up to 60 pupils from 11-18+ years of age. The school caters for children with Severe, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, Autism, Visual Impairment, and Multi-Sensory Impairment.

All pupils at the school have statements of Special Educational Needs, which are raised and maintained by Local Authorities. The Senior Assistant Head acts as the school's SEN Co-ordinator and maintains the school's SEN policy. All aspect of the school's work is focussed on meeting pupils' special educational needs and developing their potential.

School Day: All pupils are brought to school by escorted transport or, by parents. The school day begins at 8.50am and finishes at 3.15pm. All pupils have a mid-morning break. Lunchtime is in two sessions, first sitting 11.45 - 12.20pm, second sitting 12.30pm - 1.05pm, where pupils eat in the hall. Pupils can either have a school meal or bring sandwiches from home.

The school aim to put communication at the very heart of their school. They achieve this by promoting a "Total Communication" environment where all methods of communication are equally valued, and are used to complement one another.

Signing, gesture, facial expression, symbols, voice output communication aids (VOCAs), photos and objects of reference are used with speech to help the pupils express themselves (their needs, wants, choices or ideas), enhance their understanding of what is being said to them, as well as help all pupils to access the curriculum.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE or similar qualifications, Teaching Experience in the UK of at least 6 months. Experience and Newly Qualified.
