Our central government client has a 6 month requirement for a Security Architect based in Warrington.

Detailed Job Description
This role requires extensive knowledge of Security monitoring and assurance services especially relating to Protective Monitoring, IT Audits, Vulnerability Scanning, Accreditation, Policies and Standards and associated Government requirements.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:
The Security architect will be accountable for developing the programme's approach to security; by defining specific security requirements for a number of central governments IT services procurements. In order to support the Cross Government business and department IT Strategy this department is ensuring that its impending IT Service procurements are Small and Medium Sized Enterprise (SME) friendly. This requires a holistic and proportionate approach to be taken when allocating security-related functional and non-functional requirements across a future, wider supplier-base than the department has at the present for SIAM, managed hosting, networks and telephony, and others.

Security Architecture practitioners. Experience of cyber defence solutions. Experience of close liaison with CESG and GCHQ. Experience of security architecture design and assurance. Experience of managing IS Security, developing policies, procedures and guidelines in a major, complex multi-supplier environment.. Experience in the development, implementation and operation of IT Security Strategy within a large and complex multi-supplier/multi-platform environment.. Experience of managing IT Health-checks and Security Penetration tests of major IT systems,. Working knowledge of government and cross government security including HMG Security standards, CESG GPGs, RSDOPS and IS/x standards, UK CNI. Conversant with security best practices (including BS7799) and relevant legislation.. Conversant with all areas of IT Security, including Identity and credential management; Cyber Defence and Protective Monitoring; Access policy and its management; Authentication and SSO; Authorisation; Audit; Secure communications and cryptographic services; Network protection; Data protection and privacy; Security administration; Security Information Base.. Experience of using general system architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or Zachman. Architecting systems to HMG Security Standards, UK Critical National Infrastructure Managing architectural and technical change to support HMG Security Accreditation processes.

Formal Qualifications Required
Formal qualifications required.
BCS certificate in Information Security Management or a BSC in Computer Science, MSc in Information Systems Security or equivalent qualification or relevant experience.. Knowledge of UK central government IT security standards and policies (eg CESG developed standards and guidance).. BS7799 Auditor, CISA (Certified Information Security Auditor), CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Practitioner) or Certified Protection Professional (CPP) desired.. A minimum of Security Clearance (SC) is preferred for this post

It is highly desirable that you hold current SC clearance however you must be eligible to go through this level of clearance.
