Voluntary role

Scotland Advisory Committee Members

The National Autistic Society (NAS) is the UK's leading charity for people with autism.

We have been running for over 50 years and, today, span across 100 branches with a turnover of £98m pa.

Our work encompasses eight specialist schools, distinctive adult residential and community services and a wide range of charitable services including a national help-line, professional accreditation and campaigns.

In Scotland, the NAS operates one specialist residential school (in East Ayrshire) and a range of adult and family support services. These include residential care, supported living, outreach, social groups and student support. It also has a network of some 10 branches, typically run by parents for the benefit of families in their local area.

We are looking to appoint up to six members of a newly formed Scotland Committee to help us realise our ambitious plans to grow our services.

The role is voluntary and unremunerated and is advisory, acting on a co-opted basis and able to support the NAS board in fulfilling its duties by the invited attendance of the Scotland Committee chairman.

Candidates should have established professional experience at senior level in one of the following areas and be well informed through personal or professional reasons with the impacts of autism and the landscape of care and education services: delivery management and planning, business and financial management, care management, marketing and campaigning, public affairs and public relations, fundraising and income generation, legal matters or commercial development and trading.

Successful candidates will share our passion for realising a better world for people with autism and show a track record of networking at a senior level to achieve strategic impact.

If you feel you have the experience and commitment to make a real contribution to the future of our organisation, we look forward to hearing from you.

The role is not that of trustee and has no legal responsibility or authority for the NAS; all members will be required to conform with and support all NAS policies and procedures.
