SCOM Performance Engineer

Our direct Fortune 500 client in the North West DC area is looking for 2 SCOM Perfomance Engineers for a 12 month contracts. Applicants should be able to troubleshoot SCOM effectively, extend SCOM Management Packs, write PowerShell scripts, and use DynaTrace.

You will be responsible for:
- Installing and configuring monitoring agents on windows and UNIX Servers.
- Creating or modifying monitoring dashboards and reports that provide insight into the health status of the infrastructure and Applications of the client.
- Modifying or Extending Management Packs to override baseline configuration
- Writing scripts to automate repetitive monitoring tasks.
- Maintaining and creating checklists and standard operating procedures to document operations and maintenance activities.
- Successful delivery of assigned tasks while adhering to major milestones and ensuring quality of implementations.
- Providing periodic on-call production support of the monitoring and alerting systems.

Required:

- BS in computer-related degree (or equivalent)
- 3-5 years of progressively responsible in Monitoring and Event Management related experiences.
- 4-6 years experience Microsoft SCOM or BMC Patrol/BMC BPPM technology for application and system monitoring
- 1-2 years experience developing or maintaining ASP.NET web application
- Good analytical and detail oriented skills, strong customer focus, with outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Hands on experience with server management and administration.
- Ability to develop custom scripts to automate workflows using, PowerShell and other server based scripts
- Configure synthetic monitoring scripts to measure availability and performance of applications.
- Perform analyses and studies, prepare reports, and give presentations.
- Experience with a relational database and its associated reporting tool is highly desirable
