SC Cleared Unix Technical Specialist

Our client, a leading IT consultancy is looking to identify an SC Cleared UNIX Technical Specialist for a 3 month contract based in Stevenage.

SC Clearance issued by DVA/DBS is essential.

Reporting to the UNIX Build Team Leader, you will be responsible for (UNIX and/or Linux) administration and implementation for a wide range of customers.

Responsibilities include:

- Installation and configuration of base SunOS and Red Hat Enterprise Linux on physical and virtual server infrastructure.
- Ensuring maximum availability and help to build secure and stable technology platforms.
- Delivering the implementation of well defined and repeatable solutions.
- Installation, customisation, configuration and software maintenance of Business applications such as Oracle, J2EE applications containers, or internally developed software components.
- Analyzing solution high level design to ensure compliance with Company and Customer implementation best practices and procedure.
- Conducting external/internal acceptance testing for O/S infrastructure.
- Developing and maintaining operational guideline for the maintenance and support of the infrastructure.
- Sharing knowledge with technical staff to achieve appropriate outcomes and deliverables.
- Managing change control processes for infrastructure changes in compliance with Company and Customer change management procedures.
- Working as part of a team on larger solutions to ensure that hand over to the relevant support organisation is successfully completed.
- Assisting in incident and problem management to resolve issues related to ( Unix and/or Linux ) Infrastructure.
