SAS Consultant

For a client of ours in the insurance industry, we are looking for a SAS (9.2) consultant who can start immediately.

Start date: ASAP

Interview opportunities: First week of August, 2014

Duration: Minimum of 6 months, with contracts for an indefinite period

Location: Brussels, Belgium

Languages: English, and at least fluent in Dutch or French

Job description

As a SAS 9.2 consultant you will provide support for all daily outputs and roll-outs on the SAS platforms. You will be part of a 3-headed team and offer SAS support (eg installation of new software, technical support, write queries) and will ultimately deliver solvency reports.

1) You have deep knowledge of the control and operations of SAS products, especially SAS e-BI (Enterprise Guide and SAS Web Reports), SAS DI Studio, and SAS Management Console.

a. When asked by project management, you will also manage user management, monitor security, take the responsibility for housekeeping duties, and provide needed logging and auditing data. Moreover, you will provide support in case of malfunctions of SAS applications.

2) Plusses are:

a. Good knowledge of Red Hat Linux (able to navigate, perform searches, etc);

b. Knowledge of writing Shell- and Perl-scripts to control batch processing;

c. Knowledge of Tivoli and Z-centric control of batches, therefore, knowledge of Mainframes and JCL are preferable as well.

3) You are able to execute a promote from SAS components and PERL scripts from lower (development) environments, to test environments and further to production environments. You will do this according to a predetermined process, while taking into consideration account security and compliance guidelines.

Knowledge of DB2 on Linux and related housekeeping tasks (logging management, user management, tuning, and further optimisations) are considered plusses.

You are able to work in a stressful environment and able to work independently.

Technical competences

- Expert knowledge of SAS 9.2 products (minimum of 3 years; in support or development, with SAS management console, SAS e-BI and SAS DI)
- Good knowledge of the daily use of Linux
- Good knowledge of writing in and development of Perl/Shell Scripts (more than 2 years)
- Knowledge of Tivoli/Z-Centric control of batches
- Plus: Good knowledge of DB2 on LUW, with tuning (in a supportive role)
