SAP APPLICATION EXPERT - SOLUTION MANAGER EXPERT

Client Application team and project office is starting using SAP solution manager to support the application life cycle of its different SAP systems, to support the SAP project activities and migrate the SAP Basis reporting and monitoring capabilities to solution manager.

Solution manager to support the solution project documentation during SAP projects.

Migrating during Q3 transport/change mgt related to SAP R3 process to solution manager and activate same time retrofit capabilities in order to improve development transfer from R3 production landscape to R3 project landscapes. This new change mgt concept could then be further extended to other landscapes.

Analyse and prototype the usage of solution manager to manage custom code life cycle.

Prepare the future structure of the production system documentation in order to be able to receive project documentation and be able to migrate current documentation to solution manager from current Legacy system

Analysis of test mgt using solution manager

Developing further the SAP Basis monitoring and reporting capabilities using solution manager

Solution manager is coupled to Aris and that Aris process structure is expected to be the backbone of the solution manager documentation structure

MOST OF THESE ACTIVITIES ARE PERFORMED JOINTLY WITH SAP AND IBM. HOWEVER, MY CLIENT WANTS TO HAVE AN EXPERT ON CLIENT SIDE:

Contribute to solution design, assessing external providers proposals and impact on Client activities

Follow up implementation of these new components together with SAP and other IT stakeholders, controlling implementation remains in line with decided scope and requirements

To capture knowledge of these new implemented functionalities in order to ensure their future support and further enhancement

To act as level 2 and level 3 support until solution service support is transferred to a new service provider

To manage knowledge and requirements of the new user population using solution manager (super user training, solution documentation

To act as solution manager service manager, managing the solution functionalities life cycle,

Define future service model and ensuring service transfer to a new service provider

Activities will be a mix of project mgt, solution manager architecture, consultancy, hands on incident solution and hands on enhancement configuration, solution documentation, solution training and support

ACTIVITIES WILL CONSIST OF

Receiving knowledge transfer in relation to the documentation solution for project and be able to support the related functionalities (Incident mgt, Change mgt, super user training, project team super user support )

Take the Client functional/project mgt lead in regards to the implementation of the change/transport/retrofit mgt process. The job will consist of

Managing the implementation, ensuring the solution is implemented according to requirement, design and scope,

Working in close relationship with the release and change manager and related AM service provider project manager.

Acquiring the knowledge of the new solution, ensuring it is properly documented and be able to support the implemented solution (Incident mgt, new request/change mgt, service provider training and support )

Define together with our SAP Basis expert and SAP the sizing and infrastructure requirement for the future solution manager

Contribute to the SAP ALM strategy

Contribute to the roadmap and implementation of the solution manager technical services (Alerts, EWA reports )

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead SAP solution manager subject matter expert and service manager

Provide functional expertise and design authority enabling Client to manage and improve its SAP ALM processes using SAP solution manager and other integrated solutions.

Provide best in class maintenance and development services to SAP solution manager deployed solutions and functionalities, guaranteeing their continuous accessibility, availability, reliability and efficiency.

APPLICATION EXPERTISE RESPONSIBILITIES

SAP solution manager functionalities and related supporting systems life cycle management, focusing on change management, operation risk minimization, quality management, documentation and test management

Solution template design authority and documentation.

Increase solution performance and utilization efficiency through improvement initiatives, solution training and best practices promotion

Ensure solutions remains up to date, in line with SAP recommendations.

Develop quality management guidelines. Secure maintenance and development activities are provided accordingly.

Ensure transition of development to business as usual and related knowledge acquisition.

Provide level 2 and 3 support.

Support solution manager super user network and key-stakeholders, maintaining their solution knowledge, providing expertise services, organizing training and workshops. Actively contribute to discussions, community forums and solution governance steering.

Manage SAP Basis, Application mgt and project office requirements related to solution manager: requirement gathering, functional analysis and advice, solution design and prototyping, implementation driving, testing coordination and solution transfer to business.

APPLICATION SERVICE MANAGEMENT

Manage SAP solution manager related IT services focusing on availability, capacity and performance management, incident/problem management and service request management.

Ensure the services are provided in quality, according to agreed service levels and in respect to governance. Liaise with other IT teams and coordinate multi service provider activities accordingly.

Maintain and document key information and roadmap related to the application/functionalities and the processes/services in place to manage them.

RESOURCE PROFILE

My client is looking for a senior experienced functional resource focusing on the SAP ALM functionalities of solution Manager. The person should present a good combined mix of solution manager 7.1 functional architecture skills and solid Solution manager 7.1 technical/config hands on background. Candidate should present experience in several solution manager implementation, training and documentation skills and have solid Solution manager technical/config hands on background.

Resource should also show up good team working and leadership skills and have good background experience in project mgt, service mgt, ITIL and outsourcing environment.

SKILLS

- Minimum 5 years experience in Solution Manager and SAP ALM with experience in Solution manager 7.1 and higher versions.
- Additional expertise in application mgt, Aris integration, test mgt, service management as well with other Application life cycle management oriented applications will be highly appreciated.

Proven experience implementing and managing SAP ALM using Solution manager.

- Proven ability to assess requirements, design solutions, produce functional analysis/technical document, implement solutions, control and test developed solutions

Experienced in ITIL processes, service delivery and operation outsourcing.

- Strong analytical skills combined with good level of communication and training skills.

Ability to work independently, defining targets and prioritizing tasks in a demanding environment.

Structured, customer service minded, team-player, proactive and highly committed.

English (fluent written and spoken). Other European languages are a plus
