SAN - Storage Area Networks Administrator

I am currently looking for a SAN (STORAGE AREA NETWORKS) administrator to work on a 12 month contract for a market leading client of mine in CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA.

AT LEAST 5 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN THE FOLLOWING:

- IMPLEMENTATION EXPERIENCE IN SAN (STORAGE AREA NETWORKS), SVC (STORAGE VOLUME CONTROLLER) AND TPC (TOTALSTORAGE PRODUCTIVITY TOOL), GLOBAL MIRRORING
- IMPLEMENTATION EXPERIENCE WITH IBM STORAGE PRODUCTS AS DS8000, DS6000 AND DS4000 SERIES

STORAGE ADMINISTRATOR

- This individual needs to assist with BAU functions.
- Experience in implementing storage solutions, experience and knowledge in implementing Hitachi, EMC, HP EVA, XP, Veritas Netbackup and Enterprise and midrange storage.
- This role performs services to install, operate, maintain and monitor a clients installed IT services to ensure that client service levels are met.
- The storage management disciplines include back-up, recovery, DR support, change, problem, incident, availability, configuration, operations, performance and capacity, and security management.
- Activities range from the involvement with design and implementation of a storage management solutions covering one or more of the disciplines to the ongoing operation and management of the clients IT resources using primarily Veritas Netbackup for backup and recovery and a variety of SAN devices supporting TotalStorage.

JOB DESCRIPTION

- Knowledge/implementation skills of IBM STORAGE PRODUCTS, such as:
- Implementation experience in SAN (Storage Area Networks), SVC (Storage Volume Controller) and TPC (TotalStorage Productivity Tool), Global Mirroring
- Implementation and planning experience around IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) and backup.
- Implementation experience with IBM nSeries/NetApp product line and software
- Implementation experience with IBM Storage products as DS8000, DS6000 and DS4000 series
- Practical knowledge and skills around data migration in a STORAGE and SERVER environment.
- Knowledge around multiple OEM Storage environments and platforms
- Strong technical leadership and communications skills
- Knowledge and experience with the following is an asset:
- Multiple skills in the UNIX area is an asset - AIX, LINUX,
- Knowledge of script writing for data migration in for Unix and Intel operating system environments
- Knowledge around other OEM vendors such as EMC and HDS
- Specific Certifications around Storage technology
- Databases - Oracle, DB2
- Applications - SAP
