Background
A Safety Manager is urgently required in a Defence establishment in the South West.

Main Duties/Responsibilities
The Safety Manager will have responsibility for the management of Safety and Environmental processes within the Project Team. The role encompasses the development and review of safety processes, the review of equipment safety documentation, the provision of safety guidance and advice to project managers and to the Project Team Safety Manager, safety assurance where appropriate, advise on the application of safety, legislation and environmental management to the Project Team equipment project managers and the co-ordination of Project Team adherence to safety & environmental policies and assessments.

Main/Specific Tasks & Objectives. Production, implementation and maintenance of Project Safety & Environmental Management Plans (SEMP's). Establish, maintain and review information within the PT Safety Hazard Logs. To be an advisor, if required by Senior Manager to attend Project Team output Groups on matters of project Equipment Safety, Legislation and Environmental Management. To be responsible for selected PT Safety and Environmental process documentation and to ensure its correct incorporation into the PT Business Management System. To review Working Group Safety documentation. To attend Working Group Safety and Environment Panels if required. To address safety questions and to collate replies to other areas requiring Safety, Legislation and Environmental information. To represent the Project Team at safety meetings and presentations, if required. To liaise with PT external interfaces to ensure coherent safety management. Plan and co-ordinate Internal Safety Audits. To have a particular safety and environment overview for all projects within the PT. To ensure that there is a safety culture within the project Team, and all interactions with stakeholders.. To ensure that appropriate safety and suitability trials, tests and their evaluation have been conducted General Tasks. Advise Line Managers with establishing and maintaining a Safety Training Programme for appropriate staff within their Terms of Reference, Training Plans and Personal Skills Profile. Assist external auditors when conducting safety audits within the Project Team. Review all safety related documentation and liaise with OSRP for submission of OME Safety Case Reports for assessment.. Review Hazard Logs related to Project Team equipment and assess for compliance

Skills/Experience Required
Experience in Developing Safety Cases Knowledge in the integration of Weapons on Aircrafts Experience in Hazard Logs Good Weapons Experience Engineering Background
