Job Purpose

The Rotary Wing - Anti Submarine Warfare (ASW) Aircrew Training Specialist is accountable to the Instructional Design Manager for establishing a credible and deliverable ASW Aircrewman Training Design that meets the MoD customer requirements. The role is responsible for the instructional design and development effort required to produce the ASW Aircrewman curriculum, for the sensor operation courses for Antisubmarine Warfare Aircrewman and Royal Navy Observers, and associated instructors.

The ASW Aircrew Training Specialist will support the RCS2 Bid and follow on work.

Context

The Ascent Training System Design and courseware design deliverables are key to providing the customer with confidence in the Ascent product and indicators of Ascent&rsquos performance as a Training Service Provider.
 It is vital that the TSD is of a high quality and meets and or exceeds the customer&rsquos requirements, in order to develop the RCS2 Programme and future business.

Accountabilities
&bull Focal point for RCS2 Courseware activities providing SME input to Rearcrew Stage 2 Team. Responsible for detailed course design to ensure  optimisation of aircraft and synthetic media capabilities for allocated ab-initio and Instructor courses
&bull Courseware development efforts compliant with the MOD DSAT process
&bull Instructional design activities leading to the production of SCORM courseware and simulation scenarios
&bull Ensure that the Learner is firmly at the centre of the design of the military flying training system
&bull Interface with other Ascent and MOD personnel to maintain coherence in overall courseware development
&bull Identify emerging risks in training analysis and design and advise on mitigation strategies
&bull Accurate and thorough data management
&bull Provide technical support as required to the Programme, Finance and Commercial teams.

Key Performance Indicators
&bull Agreement from the Customer community on a proposed Ascent RCS2 Training System Design
&bull The customer recognises the RCCS2 Support as an expert in instructional design
&bull The customer and key stakeholders are engaged in the courseware design process, and accept the Training methodology
&bull Course Design is contained within the Database under configuration management, with Traceability established back to the OPS. Produce preliminary I-Specs, Course Syllabi and Input files to enable resource optimisation to be carried out using the DPM/PFM
&bull Regular reviews to monitor adherence to the plan including tracking progress against budget and timescale

Challenge & Creativity/Decision Making:
&bull To sell the Training System to a diverse stakeholder group which includes the Customer, Instructor community, 22Group as well as the programme management team
&bull Optimising the use of different media to delivers the requirement, whilst keeping within budget
&bull To build and develop relationships with key stakeholders seeking their input, managing their expectations and ensuring that they are regularly updated on progress so they remain fully engaged with the programme
&bull To work with team members to optimise contribution from both the individual and from the team

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential
&bull Recent experience in Rotary Wing ASW or EW roles
&bull Instructional experience
&bull Military Rotary Wing Flying Experience

Desirable
&bull Experience in designing Syllabi
&bull Degree or equivalent professional qualifcation/experience
&bull Military aviation instructional experience
&bull Broad knowledge of capabilities and application of synthetic training devices
&bull Knowledge of Land and Maritime environments
