Research Assistant Job

RESEARCH ASSISTANT needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in PALO ALTO, CA.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Primary responsibilities will be to design and construct vectors, transformation of microbial strains, and evaluation of gene expression and protein production.
- Candidate will also be expected to process data, in addition to recording and communicating results in laboratory notebooks, written reports, and oral presentations in a timely manner.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- BS in (Biology/Molecular Biology) or AS with extensive laboratory experience with PCR detection methods and preferably Southern blots.
- One to two (1 - 2) years of industry or academic experience is preferred.
- Minimal BA/BS or MS or equivalent with one to two (1 - 2) years of practical lab experience in the above areas in academic or industrial lab environment.
- The successful candidate should have excellent molecular biology skills, working knowledge of microbial physiology, robotics and computer skills, and some biochemistry knowledge is desirable.
- Motivated, independent individual but also capable of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Creative thinker with excellent communication skills.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills are highly desirable.
- Strong background in molecular biology with experience in cloning techniques, manipulation of microbial genomes and analysis of gene expression in microbial organisms such as yeast, fungi, or bacteria.
