Relay Construction Engineering Technician Job

RELAY CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN needed for a long-term contract opportunity with Yoh's client located in LAKE WALES OR LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL.

Please note that this position does not allow for working remotely, as such the incumbent must be able to work onsite in client's location.
Must be currently eligible to work in the US for any employer.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- The successful candidate is expected to work collaboratively with the appropriate groups/individuals across the enterprise to provide relay construction field support.
- This position is part of the Relay Construction and Maintenance Organization and will primarily have the following responsibilities:
- Provide Protection and Control technical expertise and on-site support for P&C relays (ie SEL 351S, 487, 421), SCADA RTU (ie DAQ), digital fault recorder (ie URL), and communication equipment utilized in substation and transmission line P&C circuits.
- Develop project work plan - estimate the man-hour cost and schedule based on scoping information for budgeting purposes and performance measuring.
- Review P&C design packages and relay settings for accuracy before they are issued to field relay technicians for implementation Evaluate NERC documentation - review in-service readings, relay test reports, instrument transformer test reports, etc. to ensure accuracy and compliance. Initiate ECRs - submit equipment information for each new relay component added to the electric system via an Equipment Change Request (ECR) tool. This will initiate the maintenance cycle for each relay component and will also be used for accounting purposes (ie start the depreciation as components are transferred from inventory to designated sites).
- Provide project support/training and evaluation of staff and contract relay technicians.
- Participate in troubleshooting efforts to support maintenance activities
- Participate in event investigations to identify the root causes and establish corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.

What You Need to Bring to the Table:
- A graduate from a college or university with an Associate Degree in Engineering Technology or 2 to 4 years equivalent experience with no degree.
- Must have field experience in the utility industry testing relays during new installation, routine maintenance, and/or troubleshooting
- Exhibit strong teamwork and individual drive - highly motivated, articulate and eager to meet project goals
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Good time management and personal organizational skills
- Ability to use Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel) and other computer applications (eg Adobe Reader) to accomplish assigned tasks.
