Regional Road Safety Coordinator

TITLE: REGIONAL ROAD SAFETY COORDINATOR - HE

REF: LOT1JP LOCATION: PICCADILLY GATE - MANCHESTER

DURATION: 6 MONTHS

Rate: £350 per day

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Work closely with the Safer Roads Group in taking forward the road safety vision and Incident and Casualty Reduction Plans
- Leading and actively supporting evidence-based road safety initiatives.
- Identifying good practice and initiatives in road safety and leading or supporting their promotion within the region and if appropriate, more widely.
- Working closely with stakeholders, emergency services including the police, fire and rescue services as leading bodies on any measures that will contribute to reductions in those killed or seriously injured on the network.
- Identifying ways of improving compliance and monitoring performance
- Advising the Safer Roads Group through line management on key performance indicators and effective measures to monitor progress.
- Working closely with other parts of Highways England, breaking down existing silos and promoting consistent safety activity in alignment with the safety strategy.
- Leading on network safety and showing firm commitment to the success of Road Safety Partnerships.
- Acting as a focal point in communicating road safety messages to the media and public in general in liaison with the Press Office
- Representing the Region at road safety working group meetings.
- Acting as spokesperson for the Region on road safety issues
- Where necessary produce business plans to obtain agreement and funding to deliver innovative road safety interventions in your region.

ADDITIONAL INFO:

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:

- Candidates should have extensive, directly relevant experience in road safety.
- Applications would be particularly welcomed form candidates with knowledge, skills and experience in strategy and partnership working in the area of road safety, within a Local Authority, Emergency Services, or safety partnership working environment.
- Candidates should also be able to demonstrate that they have worked to/achieved challenging targets/key performance indicators, and can manage difficult relationships and improve stakeholder engagement and partnership working.
