JOB TITLE: QUANTITY SURVEYOR

LOCATION: SUTTON COLDFIELD

CONTRACT: 10 MONTHS (WITH POSSIBLE EXTENSION)

RATE: £365 PER DAY

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

- Minimum 10 years recent relevant experience or 5 years post-qualification experience, some of which in a managerial capacity.
- A Driving Licence would be desirable.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

- Working in a small team based in Sutton Coldfield delivering the SLAM (Single Living Accommodation Modernization) project.
- Responsible for the delivery of Initial Planning Estimates and Feasibility Studies.
- Responsible for quantity surveying (QS)/cost management services to deliver scrutiny and sign-off of studies (feasibility and assessment studies, pre-tender estimates, business cases, whole life cost), assurance auditing (supplier directive compliance, QS fees) & peer reviews, project cost monitoring and portfolio reporting.
- Responsible for the promotion of a whole life cost culture across DIO, working with ODC and SAPT to ensure that, wherever affordable, investment decisions are taken on the basis of cost and value over the life of the asset rather than the initial capital cost.
- Responsible for the review and benchmarking of contractors' proposals to ensure Value for Money criteria are met and for providing recommendations to project delivery teams.
- Responsible for the collation of cost data on designated projects and input to the cost database as directed Responsible for audit, scrutiny and sign-off of final accounts and the evaluation of claims and disputes.
- Support and assurance in relation to financial reporting and forecasting Responsible for the analysis and validation of actual costs incurred on project milestones.
- Responsible for the evaluation of financial forecasts to monitor expenditure against project cost plan, to inform development and review of final accounts.
- Responsible for advising project delivery managers of expenditure in current and future years.
- Support programme delivery and project development activities on Legacy contracts.

KEY TASKS:

- Tender evaluation & recommendation, Change Order evaluation, Milestone Payment examination, Actual Cost audit & determination, Final Price payable/Final Account preparation, cost bench-marking & estimating.
